John 10:9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
Many of us have a dream or desire to own a home. To have the -- picket fence, the garage, the spacious back yard. We want nice grass, matching paint, and the latest alarm systems. We idealize adorning our homes with custom furniture, and personal designs that would make the home complete. What if we could imagine the home Jesus has prepared for God's children in the life to come? Jesus said that he would go and prepare a place for those that are waiting on His return.
John 14:2-3 There are many dwelling places in my Father’s house. Otherwise, I would have told you, because I am going away to make ready a place for you.
And if I go and make ready a place for you, I will come again and take you to be with me, so that where I am you may be too.
We romanticize having a "forever" home when really, we ought to consider preparing for our Heavenly home. How will it look? How big will it be? Who will be there? These are some of the questions I ponder when I begin to think about our Heavenly homes. I know that while here on earth, this home is a temporary place. Like everything else, with each passing day my earthly home is slowly returning back to dust from which it came. In our Heavenly home we won't have to worry about a mortgage. We won't care about who we refinance with. We won't worry about cutting the lawn. We won't have to worry about anything because God promises us a building not made by man's hands. The only way to enter into this establishment is by confessing Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. Only then, we too will look forward to a permanent residence with the Lord. To put it plain, think of God as being our refuge. He is our shelter and fortress. Psalms 91:1-2 As for you, the one who lives in the shelter of the sovereign One, and resides in the protective shadow of the mighty king.
In eternity, Heaven on Earth will be a new anticipated home for believers in Christ and born-again Christians. If we want to enter into His safe place, we have to understand that Jesus is the door inside. When we accept Jesus into our hearts and make Him our foundation, we can dwell in eternity in the presence of God.
